Position Summary

The Production Operators will assist the existing Platform operations team.  You will be accountable for the day to day operation of the Control Room.  The role provides initial response to high priority alarms – takes control of plant and communication duties in the event of an emergency. You will aso be expected to cover outside operator activities and become competent in both areas.  
  
The rotation will be 2 on / 3 off with a direct report to the Offshore Team Leader. 

Key Accountabilities

HSSE- Every individual has a duty to both themselves and those around them to ensure that safe practice is adhered to at all times. In addition to any specific accountabilities for HSSE, all employees are accountable for ensuring that they take care of themselves and adopt exemplary safe behaviours.- Ensure daily production activities on the Platform fully comply with BG practices including safe systems of work. 
- Act as Permit signatory under ISSOW (as outlined in BG operating procedures).
- Daily monitoring of activities to ensure safe working arrangements and processes are being operated in line with industry and internal best practice.
- Ensure that Offshore Team Leader is advised when any Safety Critical Equipment has failed to meet the performance standard.
- Contribute to the development of production related emergency response training scenarios.
- Actively contribute to the production team achieving outstanding performance in meeting BG Group targets of HSSE and efficiency.
- Member of the Platform Emergency Response team.

Production Control- Direction of daily production activities on the Platform, ensuring facility achieves the required integrity and efficiency standards to reach targeted hydrocarbon production targets safely.
- Active monitoring of all control room process and systems.
- Identify and respond to plant operating outside normal parameters of malfunction and carry out the necessary action to correct, report actions to Offshore Team Leader.
- Gather and collect data for the process and utility equipment, identify actions to be taken to minimise equipment and machinery failure.
- Recover plant from any emergency shutdown and minimise loss of production, whilst adhering to operating procedures.
- Complete pre-start up/operating checks, ensuring all interdependent systems are available.
- Complete post start-up/operating checks to ensure normal operating conditions.
- Be aware of and control work planned to be or being carried out on the process plant and on the installation, including communication as required with standby and supply vessels, and personnel working with marine operations.
- Maintain and be aware of all works being carried out of the installation, which may have an impact on the normal and safe operation of plant, including awareness of all active permits to the work issued and accepted.
- Support Offshore Team Leader seek out gaps in production activities, contributing to and delivering production improvements.
- Measure production rates for the Platform and proactively react to potential deviations from forecasted production rates.
- Root Cause Analysis of all unplanned production outages; understand & avoid repeats.
- Liaise with onshore ICE team in optimising production through Daily Meetings.

Financials- Ensure Production Teams requests for resources are within set limits and highlight any potential deviation to Offshore Team Leader.
- Contribute to active system and cost ownership mindset across production team.

Processes and systems- Completion all relevant records, log books etc in order to generate required reports.
- Monitor and report output from process facilities, maximise volumes, delivering performance excellence ensuring liquid export quality meets or exceeds required specification.

People and Organisation- Demonstrate an active performance mindset to others within production team to focus behaviours on safe working and optimising production levels against key targets under the direction of the Offshore Team.

Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute

Committed to the highest standards of HSSE, working continuously for improvement both in own activities and in those of the assets, projects or other business activities in which they are involved, you will be adept at working in an offshore team structure with strong production experience in an upstream oil and gas business in a control room environment.

Proficient in the application of production management processes you will have proven ability to deliver a safety critical role associated with the function as well as having proven capability in leading production technicians, measuring, reporting and analysing data to deliver performance improvements.
This is a safety critical role and you will demonstrate skill in problem solving in relation to production related issues.
 
You will perform in an emergency response role as defined in Company procedures, contributing to managing and delivering emergency response actions in the event of accidents or incidents under the direction of the Offshore Installation Manager or other relevant persons as well as monitoring and responding effectively to situation changes.

Additional Information for External Candidates

You will have a visible presence onshore, including undertaking onshore projects for defined periods of time particularly before/after trips to support the business needs.  Travel to other BG offices and facilities will be expected.
