Chief Executive Officer

Climate-KIC is Europe's largest public-private innovation partnership focused on climate change, consisting of dynamic companies, the best academic institutions and the public sector. In its ambition but also complexity across sectors and geographies, Climate-KIC is a unique endeavor. It is one of three Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs) created in 2010 by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) to foster sustainable growth. Climate KIC integrates education, entrepreneurship and innovation resulting in connected, creative transformation of knowledge and ideas into economically viable products or services that help to mitigate climate change.
In succession of Professor Mary Ritter, Climate-KIC is seeking a Chief Executive Officer to further advance the dynamic development of this innovation network in a strategic way, strengthening its stakeholder relationships externally as well as internally, ensuring operational excellence, while moving towards financial self-sustainability.
The successful candidate should have the following qualifications:
  • Business know-how and proven, well-developed managerial skills at a senior level;
  • Experience in managing large complex organizations involving stakeholders from the private and public sectors;
  • Appropriate understanding of the climate challenge and the role of mitigation and adaptation in addressing climate change;
  • Global perspective and ability to develop KIC activities also beyond Europe;
  • First-rate command of the English language and preferably of another major European language;
  • Experience with European policy circles and the work of the European Commission as well as the European Parliament would be beneficial.
We are seeking a value-driven personality with well-developed soft skills and the ability to stimulate new ideas and thinking for climate innovation.
