(senior & junior position)

BACKGROUND
ICRA – The International Centre for development oriented Research in Agriculture
 – was established in 1981 by European donors to the CGIAR, to link agricultural research to development. Since then, ICRA has evolved considerably, from an organization focused on individual training to include an emphasis on building the capacity of organizations and partnerships in the South for agricultural innovation processes. We work with research, universities and technical colleges, agricultural advisory services and agribusiness in the area of collective innovation where these organizations work in partnership.
ICRA is a relatively small but growing international organization, with currently 20 full- and part-time staff members and professional associates located at one of its two main offices in Wageningen, Netherlands, and Montpellier, France, as well as in Africa (Nairobi, Accra and Pretoria) and Latin America (Bolivia). Due to an increase in project activities, we are seeking additional staff to complement our current resources, especially in the area of organizational development and curriculum development in the field of tertiary agricultural education (TAE).  We are looking for one junior andone senior position.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Network with potential ICRA partners both in Europe and the South, including global, regional and national organizations in agricultural research and TAE;
• Develop ICRA’s project portfolio in capacity strengthening in agricultural innovation;
• Manage ongoing projects in agricultural innovation;
• Facilitate learning groups/innovation partnerships in the South;
• Document training and capacity strengthening effectiveness and project outcomes for ICRA’s communication purposes (website, annual reports, social media);
• Develop thematic expertise for ICRA in organizational strengthening and/or partnership development for agricultural innovation systems;
• Develop training materials to support ICRA’s capacity strengthening programmes.
DESIRABLE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
For the senior position:
• A Masters or PhD degree in a related field;
• A minimum of five years of experience in capacity development for agricultural innovation with research and/or tertiary agricultural education organizations;
• Experience in capacity building of agricultural research and or tertiary agricultural education in the South, including the promotion and management of organizational change;
• Experience in training design, development of training materials and training and/or development of educational curricula;
• Experience with the design, management and evaluation of multi-stakeholder projects;
• Ability to work in interdisciplinary and cross-cultural teams, as well as independently;
• Strong presentation skills, speaking and writing;
• Willingness to travel extensively within Africa (mainly), Asia and Latin America (approximately 30% of time);
• Fluent in English and French (Spanish is an advantage).
For the junior position, knowledge in the same subject areas will be expected, with a minimum of 2 year experience.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
The senior position will be based preferably at the ICRA office in Wageningen, The Netherlands or at our office in Montpellier, France. The junior position will be based in Wageningen, The Netherlands.
The salary for each position will be based on qualifications and experience, within the indicative range of EUR 4,424 – 5,247 per month (full time, 36 hours per week, for the senior position; EUR 2,671-3,637 for the more junior position).
